The Paul C. Buff Forums are not public forums, they are privately owned and run by Paul C. Buff, Inc., designed for customer and potential customer discussion of our professional photographic lighting products, photography and lighting techniques.
We do not allow visitors to post – before you can post, you must be registered. In registering and posting a message, you are agreeing to the forum rules explained below and the “Registration Agreement Terms” provided when you first go to register. When registering, you may create a unique user name that does not have to be your real name, but we do expect you to use a real email address. This forum is designed for discussion of Paul C. Buff, Inc. lighting equipment and general lighting and photography techniques. Off-topic comments may be deleted and users repeatedly posting off-topic comments may be banned.
> Bumping / Cross-Posting
Do not attempt to disrupt the flow of the forum by deliberately “bumping” your post back to the top of the forum. “Bumping” posts or threads with no new content will not be tolerated. We do not look favorably on cross-posting of messages, especially if it is continuously abused by the same posters and/or simply contains an image or gallery link. Anyone repeatedly cross posting may have their cross-posted messages removed and/or face a ban.
> New Posters
Before you ask a question or start a new thread, please check to see if someone else has asked it before. You can use the forum search engine first to find posts and threads with previous discussion on particular topics.
We allow users to include images that are remotely hosted in their posts and signatures. Please do not abuse this by posting an excessive amount of pictures in any message or thread. To direct users to multiple images, post a link to an online gallery of images.
** Any images posted to this forum will be considered for our Featured Image Gallery. Linking of an image on this forum implies the granting of the right of Paul C. Buff, Inc. to download the image and post it in our featured image section if we choose to do so. If you do not wish to grant us this right, please indicate this in your post. If you have an image that has been selected for this gallery and do not wish to participate, please let us know and we will be happy to remove it. Any images selected for the featured gallery will be posted with the owner's name and copyright notice. Ownership remains with the photographer.
We do not allow images considered lewd, vulgar, sexually orientated, or pornographic in nature to be posted in or embedded within a post, message or signature. While we understand that this category of work (with decent, tastefully shot artistic images) is a valid concentration within the industry, the nature of these images may not be appropriate for all users. To direct users to your images that fall within this category, you may provide a link to another website where they are presented.
We absolutely do not allow any nude, semi-nude or voyeuristic images of children to be included in a user’s post or signature. Links to other websites or galleries featuring these types of images will not be tolerated. Anyone posting such images or links to galleries with such images will be immediately banned and may be reported to the authorities.
Commercial website linking or advertising is not allowed on this forum. This rule applies both to owners of and webmasters of other websites promoting themselves on the forum.
> In our “Workshops and Seminars” section, we allow user to post links and / or information about photographic lighting workshops and seminars that they may conduct, have attended or will be attending. This section is intended for informational purposes only, strictly designed as a place to let other users know about upcoming events. Any posts that include information about workshops, seminars or events unrelated to photographic lighting will be removed and the user posting may be banned.
> Users are not allowed to include any kind of promotional or discount codes for websites, companies or products in their posts or in their user signatures.
