When I saw the email of new commanders, I said "Great, I just placed my order yesterday.".

Than I saw it was just the plus models.

I thought someone was out to get me. heh

So are the receivers built-in to the Einsteins?

Einstein uses a $29.95 plug in Transceiver. There's a slot for it.

So it will be a external plugin, or an internal plug in?
Do you have a picture of the plugin?
Can we see the picture that was put in the Shutterbug October Issue?

This is great.. kinda like the Voltage card that plugs into the Profotos?

I am also excited about the domes over the flash tubes.. Its a bit scary taking off 7 foot octaboxes and worrying about hitting that flash tube on the way out.

I hope the size and weight arn't too overwhelming.. big part of why i am now using alienbees is because of the weight.

I also hope that the light indication that the flash is ready will stay... I know people **** about there not being a beeper on the AB's but i prefer the lights flashing on and off.. there is something about it that makes my models perform better.

Any word on the likelihood of the internal C cells working in the 500WS model?

This is definitely in the works. The power supply specialist I've been working with is not as fast I am - I keep pushing on him.

Hi Paul!

Any news on the release date of the Einsteins? Will they be ready to ship in January-February? Cause I'm having this trip to the US from Jan 10th to Mar 10th, and I really need the lights while I'm down there. I have some shoots that's really important to me down there, and this will be my last trip outside Norway for a few years, so I really need to make the most out of it. And for that I need those lights of yours ;o)

Is it possible to get on some kind of list to ensure you get the lights as soon as they start to ship? And will you ship a lot of units right away, or will there be backorders and a lot of waiting?

Excuse my lousy english, hope you get me.

That picture (which appeared to be an artist's conception) showed a black, kinda blobish protrusion extending upward about an inch that looked like a CyberCommander receiver sunk 3/4 into the top rear of the light. I was guessing that would be the plug-in module.

I agree, I like the modeling light switch-off while recycling. I've got enough beeping stuff now. The beep would be useful on location with the Vagabond because the modeling lights are off, but then I've not been shooting faster than the Vagabond recycles anyway.

Do we have pix of the unit yet?

I'm looking for a higher end monolight with higher output, right now its the WL or a little more I can pick up a profoto compact. So this unit would fit the bill.

The Cyber Commander pix is a rendering, but is fully accurate. I actually have prototype of the whole thing and it's exactly like the rendering. The reason it may look like "a black, kinda blobish protrusion extending upward about an inch that looked like a CyberCommander receiver sunk 3/4 into the top rear of the light. I was guessing that would be the plug-in module." is inaccurate.

Cyber Commander swivels from horizontal to vertical on the hotshoe and is shown rotated back 45° - the position it is most likely to be used in. If it were "a plug in module" what would you want to plug it into?

I worked extremely hard to make CC tiny yet powerful, and designed it to be useable either handheld or hotshoe mounted. Compare it to a PW or an ordinary flashmeter - it's smaller and cheaper than either and does way more than both combined.

If I can be a little defensive, what the XXXX do you want for $179.95? A $10,000 product the size of a postage stamp? Gimme a break, please. It gets lonely sometimes setting the world on fire and hearing people say "Gee, can't you set the universe on fire instead and I'll give you 10 bucks?"

The question was about the receiver, not the transmitter:

Einstein transceiver is a tiny external module that plugs into a slot on the top of the light so the antenna is in the optimal position. If it has a problem or is changed the transceiver can be replaced in 5 seconds.
