****, saw the durations from testing of the Einstein that post. Was hoping for the impossible I guess, 1/1000 t.1 durations at full power from the 1000ws head. Oh well. Maybe it will at least be smaller than a 7b or an Elinchrom Ranger?

I was really hoping this would be the holy grail for me.

Still, 1/600 t.1 isn't bad at all. Drop it to 250 ws and you should be golden. I'm considering (assuming finances work out and featureset arrives properly) using a few all at lowered power for some particularly fast motion I'd love to freeze.

Full power = 1/650 and t.5 = 1/2000
If you dial down to half power 1/2 you will get t.1 = 1/2000

Seowitz and myself are ski/snowboard photographers. 1/600 sec is too slow, and 250 ws is often not enough for what we do. Alot of the interest (hope) from us and our peers in the Einstein is that we are all looking for cheaper and more portable alternatives to the Ranger and 7B, which are the standards in our industry. AB400's & 800' and homemade vagabonds are used with some success by some of us, but the 400 is useless to us on bright sunny days, and the 800's duration is a little slow for certain things.

Yep, ski/snowboard is exactly what I was thinking might work out. I need a number of lights for other reasons, and I'm looking to multipurpose them.

Four 1000 ws Einsteins @ 500 ws = 2000 ws of power at 1/2000 t.1 duration. I think it'll do, particularly since it's a secondary service. Little bulky and heavy though. I'll have to experiment and see if I can get away with lugging less than four for what I want to do with them.
