I can't get past the skin processing. Sorry. :(

These are really good, solid work, with the following exceptions: The highlights are a bit too hot for me in the first one. You tend to place your camera low enough that I feel I am looking up her nose, and I don't care for armpit shots (personal preferances, not necessarily critique).

thanks for the feedback. indeed, i do tend to shoot from a lower angle in all my work. i like to make my subjects look powerful and statuesque, but yes, sometimes it appears that you're looking up the nostrils due to slight changes in angle or pose.

as for the armpits--i hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. but that is a good observation. there are a lot of pits on display in the pictures. as weird as it might sound, arm pits can be kinda sexy on a pretty girl. so i guess i subconsciously conveyed that in my shots without thinking about it.

thnx for the comments

You bet, and that's kinda my point. Some find pits sexy, some are creeped out by them, some just don't like to look at them. So, from a personal point of view, I avoid them as they don't fit in with my personal style/philosophy/whatever. I just wanted to point it out as something to keep in mind.

Well I'd like to appreciate them, I just can't. That's the biggest factor for me, but frankly, I'm not wild about most of 'em in other aspects as well. I've seen better from you in all arenas (lighting, composition, post work, etc).

for these images, I was going for more of a slick, slightly over-processed look to them. however, if you say the processing is too strong, i'm inclined to believe you.

i'm still trying to get used to the nikon D90. I upgraded from a D70 a few months ago and I had been using that thing for so long that I knew exactly how it would behave and how to process the image files it would generate. also, i recently switched from aperture to lightroom, so i am still trying to learn the ins-and-out of that program.

i like where ur going in the 5th image of the 1st post...the last image in the second post is good but the hair ties are distracting...all and all i think they are more artistic than beauty...no complaints on the skin processing although they could use a tad bit more contrast to give them some added punch.

Your whole setup is great!

Top notch in the lighting and the way they are shot...

...the only thing (and this applies just to me)...

...is that it looks like a blur technique was used on the skin, and we know that blurring doesn't sell realism.

I'm digging the lighting and composition on these. Not liking the b/w's as much as the color as I think they are a bit muddy. I love what ever you did to the skin. It may be to much for some but I think it works here. That's just my personal taste though.

I may be wrong but it appears to me that the nail polish is peeling on the tattoo girl? To me this screams unprofessional (her not you) no matter how appealing she may be. If hands are going to be in the shot the nails should be properly manicured. It would have been better for her to remove the polish altogether.
