It’s Monday and here are the promised New Product Announcements.

The Good News:

1. We are in the final stages of appointing Gotham Audio in
Switzerland as a European wing of Paul C. Buff, Inc. Gotham will
offer select PCB products throughout Europe and surrounds on the same
factory-direct basis as we offer our USA customers, and will maintain
a full inventory, repair and factory warrantee service. Anticipated
startup date is approximately 60 days. We will post links to our Paul
C Buff Switzerland site when available.

In order to successfully distribute our products in other countries
we felt it necessary to offer globally compatible products and are in
the final development stages of these CE labeled products. Thus the
following:

2. Introducing AB MAX. This product line was developed to take
AlienBees above and beyond the very highest performance monoflash
units offered anywhere at any price. Please see attached pictures and
specifications for the global plug and play product line. Please note
that ABMAX can be powered by inexpensive non pure-sinewave inverters
and that it uses approximately ½ the battery power per flash as
conventional flash units. We are in final testing stages of pre-
production AB MAX units now and expect to begin taking pre-orders on
June 1 and begin shipping products on July 1.

3. In parallel with the AB MAX release, we expect to follow the same
pre order and shipping schedule for Cyber Commander and plug-in
CyberSync Transceiver modules. See attached rendering of final
version. More operating details will be posted soon. This product is
now functional in pre-production form and is undergoing program
tweaking.

4. We are also releasing our brand-new Parabolic Light Modifier
System™ and four new conventional reflectors on the same schedule.
Please see attached pictures and specifications for this exciting
product line.

The Bad News:

Development of Einstein is ongoing and there remains no solid release
date. While we have successfully developed all the IGBT control and
display features and the universal 90VAC to 260VAC power supply, the
internal 12VDC power supply remains a challenge to the power supply
engineers. We are facing primary challenges of getting all of this in
the compact package it needs and within a price point that is viable
to both our company and our users.

Paul C. Buff

Cyber Commander will take the same schedule as AB MAX, meaning June 1 preorder and July 1 ship date

Those new AB Max's sounds sweet!

Which cybersync transceiver plugs into the top of the new ABmax? Does it take the CSRB or CSRB+ or either?

Looks like neither. If you look at the "Projected Prices" part of the flier you can see a Cybersync Transceiver for $29.95.

Yeah it looks like the new AB's and hopefully the Einsteins will have their own version of CS modules. I like the idea of a plugin module vs. sync cords.

Those AB Max units sure do look interesting and a great price ratio vs. specs.

Aside from the 12v feature, how does the MAX differ from Einstein?

Hopefully the new plugin module will be backward compatible with the current CSR triggers.

I believe they will ... it would be very out of character for Paul to do otherwise. Look at the details as he included the ability to update firmware in the future as needed on these items. He's always maintained compatibility throughout his product line, at times to great expense to himself to do so.

Will the existing AB line be terminated or continue on?

I for one am glad that the model number correlates directly with the True Watt Seconds (WS) rating of the new lights.

I know on some forums people complain about the fact that the AB400 isn't 400 true WS but 160 True WS.
