The Zeus™ system is a pack-and-head system. Unlike our traditional AlienBees™, White Lightning™ and Einstein™ monolight (also known as “self-contained”) flash units where the flash head and power supply are all housed together, the Zeus™ system is comprised of separate power packs (the Z1250 and Z2500) and various flash heads (the ZRM1, the Z2500SH and the Z2500BTH). Each flash head requires a power pack and that power pack is then plugged into a suitable AC power source.

We offer Zeus™ power packs in two output models - the Z1250 power pack (1250 True Ws) and the Z2500 power pack (2500 True Ws), providing lightweight, user-friendly power and control for our Zeus™ flash heads. With two flash head outlets, the power packs offer asymmetrical power distribution switching (1:1 or 3:1) with stepless flashpower output adjustment over a full 5 f-stop range (from full to 1/32 power). The user-friendly design includes the Zeus™ power pack control panel where each flash head connects and where all flashpower output and modeling lamp adjustments are collectively made.

As the power packs have standard 105 - 125 VAC, 50/60 Hz power requirements, our 15-foot power cord is provided with each pack. Direct camera connection is accomplished with the provided sync cord, while each pack offers a built-in slave tripper for wireless firing as well. The heavy-duty, durable design includes a high impact strength ABS housing, making the packs lightweight while the wide, rounded handle allows the units to be carried comfortably for travel and location work.

Note: The maximum continuous usage rating dictates the practical usage limit. For example, if a Z2500SH Standard Head is connected to a Z2500 pack (in either the A or B socket) with the full power distributed to the one head and the flashpower adjustment slider at the full position, the head would be set to flash at its maximum power input level of 2,500 Ws. To stay within the maximum continuous usage guideline, the head should only be fired 12 times per minute (12 x 2,500 True Ws = 30,000 True Ws) at these settings. The maximum continuous usage rating for both the Z1250 and Z2500 power packs is also 30,000 Ws per minute. With the Zeus™ Z2500 power pack (at 2,500 Ws), the maximum recommended usage rate is 12 shots per minute (1 shot per 5 seconds on a continuous basis). With the Zeus™ Z1250 power pack (at 1,250 Ws), the maximum recommended usage rate is 24 shots per minute (1 shot per 2.5 seconds on a continuous basis).

Flash Heads: The Zeus™ system is a pack-and-head system. The Z1250 and Z2500 power packs are only compatible with our Zeus™ flash heads: the Z2500SH Standard Flash Head, the Z2500BTH Bi-Tube Flash Head and the ZRM1 Ringmaster Ringflash Head. The power packs (not to be confused with portable power battery packs) can not be used with our traditional AlienBees™, White Lightning™ and Einstein™ flash units.

Portable Power: For portable, battery power, we recommend the use of our Vagabond Mini™ Lithium Portable Power System.

Remote Controls: The Zeus™ power packs may be used with our CyberSync™ system (compatible with both the CST transmitter and the Cyber Commander™) and may be used with either the CSR, CSRB, CSR+ and/or CSRB+ receivers, but not the CSXCV transceiver. The packs may additionally be used with the LG4X™ wired remote control as well as older Paul C. Buff™ remotes incorporating the telephone cord connection (such as the retired RR1 RadioRemote One). The units are compatible with most other third party triggering receivers (such as the PocketWizard®). A 1/4-inch to 1/8-inch non-attenuated mini male mono cord such as our CSSC is required to connect the receiver to the Zeus™ unit.

Dyna-Lite Flash Heads: Zeus™ power packs are pin for pin and voltage for voltage compatible with the Dyna-Lite 2040, 4040 and 4080 series flash heads. Do not plug the Dyna-Lite 4080 series bi-tube head directly into a Zeus™ pack without at least 10' of head-to-pack cable as these heads come with cables as short as 15" (using cable lengths less than 10' can cause excessive current and could damage the pack or head). While we will warranty the Zeus™ packs when used with these other heads, we cannot make any warranty regarding the Dyna-Lite flash heads under these or other uses.
